Hounslow Highways has been selected as a finalist for two categories in the 2016 Keep Britain Tidy Network Awards.

The award categories are for Team of the Year and Quality Improvement. Winners will be announced in February next year.

Entry submissions demonstrated how data is manipulated to drive enforcement strategies and the steps that have been taken to improve the overall cleanliness of the borough and the consistency of the cleaning services delivered. Survey statistics show that Hounslow has achieved higher scores for cleansing than the London average since 2013.

A particular focus in both award submissions has been community work carried out by Hounslow Highways including local clean ups, working with schools in the Metropolitan Police’s Junior Citizen 2015 scheme and triannual site based visits with Ward Councillors.

Hounslow Highways Service Director, Rob Gillespie, said: “Being shortlisted for these awards reflects on our important work to improve both engagement and enforcement this year. Increasing environmental awareness and civic pride must remain at the forefront of what we do to make Hounslow a better place for residents and visitors alike. The cleanliness of the streets where people live and work is a key contributor to the quality of life within an area and our teams understand the impact we can have on this.”
