Coronavirus Update

In light of the uncertainty facing all our daily lives with the recent outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Hounslow Highways want to keep you informed of the precautions we are putting in place with immediate effect. We all want to say its business as usual, but of course, there’s nothing usual about the current situation and some changes are necessary to normal services.

Firstly, our thoughts are with those who have been affected by this unprecedented event. Our appreciation and support are with the healthcare workers, local communities and governments around the world who are working tirelessly to contain this pandemic.

For us, our priority is the safety, health and wellbeing of our colleagues, customers, residents and our frontline workforce – who are delivering the services that keep communities and their essential workers safe access to and from their places of work. Therefore, we have put in a number of new measures to ensure we continue to align with the guidelines published by Public Health England, the World Health Organisation and the UK Government:

Regardless of whether our staff are working from the office or remotely, you will remain supported by us. However, please note that enquiries will be prioritised at this time as we need to focus our attention on delivering essential services across the borough and so if you do not hear from us immediately please know that we will get to you in time.

As part of our contingency planning, we are already working towards these measures:

-We have split our staff members into teams to support social distancing practices in the office, and who in the unlikely event that one team has to self-isolate the other teams will be able to continue to provide services to our customers.

-We are in regular contact with our colleagues and workforce to ensure those working remain healthy, supported and those that are working remotely still feel connected.

-We have reminded staff, workers and our supply chain partners of the Public Health advice if they feel unwell or have been in contact with anyone who feels unwell.

-All staff have been issued with guidance on how to thoroughly wash their hands and are encouraged to ensure this is done regularly and, where appropriate, have been instructed to use anti-bacterial cleaning products which we have supplied for their safety and to keep in their vehicles.

-All colleagues/workforce have been advised to maintain the prescribed distance from customers and practise social distancing.

-We have carried out several deep cleanses at our premises.

-We have stopped all non-essential face to face meetings.

-All non-essential travel has been stopped.

Our current plan is business as usual for as long as it is safe to do so. As the situation develops, the safety of our staff, workers and partners will remain of the highest importance and we will continue to inform you of the latest updates through our website and Twitter channel.

We appreciate your support and understanding during these times. Stay safe and look after one another.
