Hounslow Highways raises £350 for The Mulberry Centre during the staff’s People Week
Posted on: July 11, 2019 at 4:36 pmDuring the week of 12th June 2017, Hounslow Highways staff came together for its biannual “People Week” event
The week was filled with sessions on health issues and general wellbeing at work, as well as raising money for local Hounslow-based charity, The Mulberry Centre.
The week was kicked off with a briefing by Hounslow Highways’ Divisional Director, Martin Clack, and was followed by Mulberry Macmillan Outreach Manager, Afia Bhatti, who delivered an interactive presentation to staff on sun and skin cancer awareness.
The Mulberry Centre charity, which deals with people affected by cancer, is a key focus during People Week at Hounslow Highways, with information provided to staff to encourage a healthier working lifestyle and reduce the risk of cancer by giving up habits such as smoking.
Hounslow Highways staff also received health checkups in occupational health sessions, reflexology sessions (with an aim to roll out more sessions throughout the year), and were given a presentation by HR Business Partner Nayna Patel on staff benefits, dealing with stress and anxiety, and the importance of the Employee Assistance helpline, in addition to 1-2-1 surgeries for any staff wanting to discuss HR matters.
The week was topped off by a bake sale, with an assortment of cakes, muffins, pastries and samosas provided by staff, raising a total of £350, which will be donated to The Mulberry Centre charity.
Divisional Director of Ringway Hounslow Highways Limited, Martin Clack, said:
“The health of our staff is important to us at Hounslow Highways. Having a healthy workforce means happier staff, better working relationships and lower staff absences. All of that improves the way we deliver our services within the Hounslow borough, and we will continue to invest in our staff to ensure that these improvements continue.”
