Hounslow Highways employees held a charity cake sale earlier this month, raising £560 for local cancer charity, The Mulberry Centre.

Staff donated a mixture of homemade and shop bought savoury and sweet treats and worked in shifts to help sell to employees and visitors. A tea and coffee stall was also set up to raise extra funds. More than a dozen staff members made additional personal donations.

Hounslow Highways Divisional Director, Martin Clack, said: “The importance of working to fight a disease affecting hundreds of people in the borough cannot be understated. The Mulberry Centre provides essential services for cancer sufferers and in raising awareness amongst Hounslow residents and we will continue with our efforts to support them.”

Hounslow Highways also partnered with The Mulberry Centre earlier this year in educating employees and their families about the symptoms of prostate cancer.

The event follows a cake sale in October last year, in which Hounslow Highways raised £600 for the Mulberry Centre and their partners, Macmillan Cancer Support.
