Hounslow Highways prepared for severe weather
Posted on: July 11, 2019 at 1:13 pmHounslow Highways has established an emergency response plan for the next 24 hours following an amber weather warning from the Met Office.
From this evening, average wind speeds will be between 25-35mph with gusts of up to 60-70mph.
Winds are expected to ease by late morning Saturday.
Hounslow Highways has crews on standby over the period, including dedicated tree clearance crews to attend to any fallen trees and large branches on the network. Emergency stores have been stocked to ensure sufficient numbers of sandbags are available if needed.
Highways crews have been dispatched to secure barriers and work sites and the Emergency Response Unit will also be manned to ensure prioritisation of incidents and deal with them as efficiently as possible.
Hounslow Highways Service Director Rob Gillespie said: “We are as prepared as we can be for the severe weather with plans in place to deal with the worst and ensure we provide a safe road network and keep Hounslow moving.”
