Hounslow Highways have been rated “excellent” in an assessment made by the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

An “excellent” rating was achieved in all five judging categories which include community engagement, environmental care and safety.

Positive feedback was received for the value placed in the workforce, demonstrated through the stop smoking initiative, the quality of welfare facilities and Hounslow Highways’ efforts to communicate with stakeholders about their services and works programmes. The use of a central hub and social media feeds to manage internal and external works communications was a point of praise.

Compliments were also paid to community engagement initiatives being championed by Hounslow Highways to promote better citizenship and behaviour such as community clean-ups, the Met Police’s Junior Citizen Scheme and the triannual site visits with Ward Councillors and invested residents through the Lay Assessor programme.

Hounslow Highways Service Director, Rob Gillespie, said: “The works we carry out to improve Hounslow’s streets are done with consideration to those they have the potential to affect. In the last three years, we have made positive progress with changes to our interactions with staff on site as well as our works communications procedures. We should continue to improve the consideration we give to members of the public and those in our teams.”
