New electric vehicles for Hounslow Highways

Hounslow Highways has acquired two new electric powered vans for its operational fleet.

The vans will be used by crews to carry out day-to-day operational cleansing duties. An overnight charge is more than sufficient for a full shift’s use the following day.

Although the vans can travel up to 80mph, they are more than suitable for travelling around the borough.

Along with a new design and clearly showing they are powered by electricity the vans also carry the strapline, “Working towards a cleaner, greener borough.”

Hounslow Highways Service Director, Rob Gillespie, said: “Hounslow Highways’ commitment to improving the local environment does not end at removing litter from the streets. The introduction of a renewable energy source to power our operational fleet is part of our efforts to improve local air quality and provide a cleaner borough for residents.”
