Essential electrical works to be undertaken on Great West Road

Southern Electric Power Distribution will soon be carrying out essential electrical works on the northern side cycleway of Great West Road (A4 from adjacent to Osterley Station Car Park heading eastwards to Wood Lane).

The works will begin on Monday, 18 August 2014 and are expected to take two months to complete.

The works will be carried out in short sections and will involve temporary footpath and single lane closures to ensure the safety of the works. This work will involve digging a series of short trenches to bury ducts for the electricity cables that will be installed later in the project. This technique enables crews to work in shorter trenches, which are left open for less time to ensure minimal impact on local residents.

To ensure the safety of the public and contractors, traffic management measures and diversions will be installed when and where required. Access will be maintained to properties as far as is practicable while the works are being carried out.

Temporary parking bay suspensions will also be required on a rolling basis which is important to ensure the safety of both the public and the Southern Electric workforce.

Some night work will be required during the road crossing works to install ducts across the Great West Road.

These works form part of the 66KV high voltage electricity Cable Project from Bridge Road to Ealing, which will ensure long-term security of the electricity supply around Hounslow and Ealing.

Hounslow Highways will monitor the works to ensure they are carried out as safely and efficiently as possible.
