Duty to Consult

Under Section 115 of the Environment Act 2021, local highway authorities are now required to consult over proposals to remove certain street trees.

Hounslow Highways will fulfil this duty by affixing a consultation notice to trees that are proposed to be felled, opening a 28 day public consultation period and maintaining a register of consultations on this webpage.

Following the consultation, a decision notice will be affixed to the tree detailing the outcome and responses received during the consultation period.

The results of the consultation will remain applicable for a period of 2 years following the end of the consultation period. Within the 2 years following the consultation period, we may fell the street tree(s) in question, following publication of the outcome at least 28 days prior to the felling taking place.

After 2 years, the results of the consultation will expire and a new consultation must be undertaken if we wish to fell any street tree(s) previously consulted on.

56 Days Tree not removed – Due to objections from the residents in the area.

Tree had a crown reduction. Select roots removed to reduce/remove further damage to footway. Footway was completely reinstated.

Prunus Avium

Tree causes a carriageway Infringement due to heavy lean into the road, which has been increasing over the years. Remove tree to mitigate against further damage. Reinstatement of footway.  Replacement tree to be planted elsewhere on the highways network. Tree was pruned to remove some weight. However, this did not improve the current condition as it still infringes on carriageway. None 56 Days 16/07/2026
