Residents and schools across Hounslow have come together to combat enviro-crime.

Hounslow residents join forces to clean

We have worked in partnership with eight schools and community groups in arranging clean ups for the “Clean for the Queen” campaign in March.

Clean-ups have included pupils litter picking their grounds and local parks from Norwood Green and St John’s Primary Schools, Isleworth residents clearing private alleyways near their houses and a  clean-up of a fenced off verge on the A4 in Heston, which had become a fly-tipping hotspot.

Engagement has driven greater interest in environmental awareness, with four litter awareness days held at schools in March by us to educate students on the do’s and don’ts of litter disposal.

Hounslow Highways Service Director, Martin Clack, said: “Our engagement with the community is essential to help educate residents on environmental awareness. In particular, the work with schools reinforces the message of “love where you live”, which is integral to increasing civic pride in the borough and ensuring everyone plays their part.”

If you are a resident of the borough and you want assistance with a community clean up or you are a school and you want to discuss environmental engagement opportunities, please contact us.
